Ballet Exams

The Royal Academy of Dance holds Examinations and Presentation Classes in classical ballet and believes in the importance of every student having an attainable goal.  Progress is measured by examination. Examinations are open to all students from pre-primary to the major syllabi, offering them a challenge to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of the work. Students wishing to participate in the exam must take at least 2 ballet classes a week:

Grade 1-5 – two ballet classes per week, and must decide if participating in the exam by September.

Intermediate Foundation and above – three ballet classes with pointe per week  (i.e. two RAD ballet and 1 Open class) and must decide if particiating in the exam by September 2016.

Not taking exams – must take two classes per week for students in Gr. 1- Gr. 5, and three classes per week for intermediate foundation- Advanced levels.
